Never trust the CIA...

Salaam...

My normal winter/spring training is nearing full bloom: completely without direction and randomly simple. I hit the over-priced and understaffed Ballys about 4 times a week. Maybe get in a cx ski once or twice a week. But for a beginner, I need good edge. Snow has been icy the last couple weeks.

I will be heading back to NOW Bikes to ride for them. I will be getting a new mtn bike. Looking at going back to a 26". The 29"er was good and solid, but I felt sluggish in the singletrack. I seem to buy a new one every year.

Im trying to head to AZ and CO this month or next to train for a month or two.

Look for me at the Bike Swap in Blaine on the 14th. Bring me a valentine. I have a GIRO TT helmet for sale.(has a small crack)

IDS stairclimb this saturday and the City of Lakes Loppett on sunday. Also the start of the Olympics.

According to someone, I have a man-crush on Federer. I got up at 230am to watch his Aussie final against the young and angry Murray.

Head the warning of King and fulfill the vision of the Native Americans...

then we wouldnt need a military.

Keep Hope Alive...

With all the crap in the world, with the crumbling school systems, the growing divide of the people, with the techno-centric homo-erectus fools with their ipods and efinances, there will never be a voice that will be as timeless and guiding as Martin Luther King Jr's.

Amidst the haze of rampant consumerism  and a cancerous monoculture spreading through the cities...there is his voice that will always shine a little brighter. That we can always listen to and re-center our being and soul. Its so sad that nobody listens to him anymore. Most people dont have a fucking clue as to his sacrifices...all of which werent for him, but for the less fortunate, the ones who were told lies from our govt, the ones who all they ever wanted was to live free.

Ronald Reagan never wanted his bday to be a federal holiday. Hannity wont mention that though.

Im sorry Dr King that I live in a country that spends more 'money and time', year after year,  on the military than it does on civil and social uplift...embarrassing, to the last.

A revolution is nearing...

skiing

I made the decision of buying some skis (again) this year. It was disappointing when I first started about 4 years ago, with the bad winter we had, that I sold all my stuff. But this year with the latest snowfall, I bought some skis from Kevin Kvalsten and boots from Gear West. Im very much a beginner with no formal classes as of yet. Just kind of winging it until maybe this weekend when I can join a group for some instruction.

Ive been to Hyland in Bloomington a few times. My knees seem to be ok for skiing, but not running. Not sure if Ive ruined my interior tendons or something but cant seem to run beyond a half hour at the club without getting some major pain.

There seems to be a healthy collection of skiers here in Minnesota. Skate, classic and downhill.

No biking news really. Sold my 29er. Looking to get a new dual for next year.

I had the 'go ahead' from work to move for the winter(contract for 4 months). But our company is struggling now and that has thrown a wrench into the mix. I also would need to find someone to rent my place for FEB 1. If you know of anyone that wants to rent an efficiency in uptown(nice place), please contact me.

Copenhagen matters more than jobs.

An open letter to the next domestic bomber:

With Earth crumbling under the toxic weight of Capitalism and greed, it is my sincere hope that one day somebody will devise a plan to eradicate one of the most consumptive and climate altering cities in the world.

Las Vegas has nothing to offer but energy consuming behemouths, a lethargic white population wasting away in a concrete infested pool of the 7 deadly sins, hundreds of water sucking development projects, unflattering urban sprawl, an unhealthy relationship between city councils and developers, and worst of all; an attraction from oblivious citizens that best supports the reasons why 9/11 happened in the first place.

So, here it is....the coordinates for LasVegas:
36° 10′ 33.6″ N, 115° 8′ 13.2″ W
36.176, -115.137

TURKEY RIDE 2009

Last Thursday was Thanksgiving. A day that I give thanks for having a strip mall on every block of every city in every state. I woke up at 545 to meet Andy Minier at the Bryant/Greenway starting point.

A quiet, dry, cold and dark but enjoyable ride through minneapolis brought us to the Minnehaha Falls start at 7am. About 30-40 riders gathered with cross and mountain bikes. This is an annual event brought to you by Dan Swanson. Not sure how or why he started it. The off road ride follows the MN river from Mendota to Bloomington, and back.

The conditions were a mix of dry and slime. The slime mud was slick and certain high caliber riders biffed it. But thats what makes this ride so fun. The camaraderie from the array of riders transcends many other group rides.

My feet were froze after 4 hrs on the bike. Andy and I rode back on the Greenway as I split off and headed home to feed my face.
I never found out who or what group made it back to the cars first. I was with the group of Doug, Andy, Zimmerman, Bergman, Pat, and a few others. But I know Sam and Eric Oftedahls group was far ahead of us.

The Manifesto

There has been just one man who had the ability, for about 20 years, to break the federal govt at its knees, all from a 10x12 cabin in the back country of Montana that lacked electricity, a car, and any sense of normal civilian life. Yet, he was able to articulate in his 'Manifesto' as to why the american way of life is technologically frail, globally imperial and will start to self implode.

The Cabin

The Manifesto
"Industrial Society and Its Future"

As an insane grown man that killed 3 people, his writings are, in a collective outlook, brilliant and spot on.

My buddy Chad...always a clear conscious.

> > Subject: RE: Chad J...

Akin dissident,

Democracy now had that one on last week and I share your frustration.  Same old shit.  Today's DNow blackwater report is just scary, bro.  Those who think 9/11 truthers are off-base should take a listen to the extent to which our own gov is going to navigate themselves into the middle east for decades to come.  Life means nothing to them despite their good christian values.  When the oil dries up, the country that controls the final faucet will win.  Energy is what this chess board is all about.  That and i-pods, i-life, i-phones, i-tunes, i-energy, i-cal, i-food, i-christmas, i-me, iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

 Fuck!!!!

Ron Paul, Alan Grayson, Dennis Kucinich are the last honest reps left.  That and a Democrat gal from Ohio whose name I forget.

This weekend I'll be giving thanks I wasn't a Native American in 1642.  This year Rossi is having me over for turkey dinner.  As I'm a traditionalist in most regards, I will attend in my full blood-ridden Navajo costume and will of course bring my own polio blankets.

It's all bullshit, greed and ambition.  George Carlin was right.  Fuck it.

All of it.

White families gather together on the fourth Thursday of every November to celebrate Thanksgiving in remembrance of a feast hosted by the Wampanoag Native Americans for the Pilgrims at Plymouth in 1621. While we always remember the feast of Thanksgiving, we seldom pay homage to the Wampanoag hosts or recount what happened to them afterward.

'We have been  thanking the wrong people for hundreds of years.'
Give thanks to the Native Americans for offering food to the pilgrims...

30 yards wide for 16 inches...?

I was saddened but not surprised to see the article in the B section of Star Tribune on Saturday. 5000 trees chopped, bulldozed and Caterpillared out of  the earth to make way for an gas pipeline that will extend through the heart of Lake Rebecca Park Reserve near Corcoran.

We all know the ‘Natural Resource Extraction Party  are the most environmentally challenged peoples in history. The republicans love to weaken legislation on the endangered species act, spend billions of mining, gas, and oil lobbyists, and often times are the shadowy figure behind the efforts of massive transportation projects(Hwy 212 near Chaska, the new Northstar line, and all the Land For Sale signs along Hwy 94 heading to St Cloud.

This latest eco-assault lays within the boundaries of Lake Rebecca Park Reserve. Its only 4.25 miles long and the pipeline itself is only 16” in diameter. However, This country is obsessed with energy and we are having population sprawl, so to meet those demands, these Republican Energy Projects(REP’s) tend to be under the radar from the public view.

So that is why it surprised me to see it as a major article. Finally, an environmental story that is more important that border fences, abortion and troop surges.

Utility companies, if you noticed, love to clearcut  anything that may remotely harm overhead powerlines, underground gas pipelines or new railroad projects.

The sad part is that the utility company that’s behind this project wanted to keep it under the radar from the public view. They know how powerful we can be in stopping such projects from beginning. Georgie Bush knows this all too well. He was the most sued president from environmental groups in the history of this divided country.

The biggest reason why the Natural Resource Extraction Party lost in 2008 was because of 2 reasons: they are distant with African Americans/Native Americans, and they are distant with concern for the well being of this earth. If those 2 sectors are not identified and given some respect, they will be doomed again in 2012. Because the environmental sector is a big force. Sort of like the gun lobbyists or the atv/snowmobile groups. They have some clout.

Anyhow, instead of asking Sarah what magazines she reads, ask her about the Endangered Species Act, CO2 emissions, bike transit, Wilderness vs Development issues.

Heres the article..you decide. Again, 5000 trees gone in a heartbeat.

Northern Natural Gas spokesman Mike Loeffler said the company attempts to reduce tree loss.

The worst job in america must be public relations for an energy or utility company.
