Last Thursday was Thanksgiving. A day that I give thanks for having a strip mall on every block of every city in every state. I woke up at 545 to meet Andy Minier at the Bryant/Greenway starting point.A quiet, dry, cold and dark but enjoyable ride through minneapolis brought us to the Minnehaha Falls start at 7am. About 30-40 riders gathered with cross and mountain bikes. This is an annual event brought to you by Dan Swanson. Not sure how or why he started it. The off road ride follows the MN river from Mendota to Bloomington, and back. The conditions were a mix of dry and slime. The slime mud was slick and certain high caliber riders biffed it. But thats what makes this ride so fun. The camaraderie from the array of riders transcends many other group rides. My feet were froze after 4 hrs on the bike. Andy and I rode back on the Greenway as I split off and headed home to feed my face.I never found out who or what group made it back to the cars first. I was with the group of Doug, Andy, Zimmerman, Bergman, Pat, and a few others. But I know Sam and Eric Oftedahls group was far ahead of us.
